About The Programme
A soprano and a tenor – two celebrated stars of opera, Sonya Yoncheva and Piotr Beczała. Both are regular guests in the world’s great opera houses whose performances enchant audiences and critics alike. The Polish-born tenor Beczała is admired for the beauty of his voice and for the passion and subtlety of nuance in his character portrayals; and the Bulgarian-born soprano Yoncheva thrills her public with her vocal brilliance, her warmth and expressive artistry. They recently appeared on stage together in Umberto Giordano’s Andrea Chénier at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and are now gracing Zurich with their presence. In a charity concert with the Swiss Orchestra under the baton of Lena-Lisa Wüstendörfer, they will be presenting some of the loveliest late-Romantic arias and duets full of melodic beauty and dramatic momentum. Their programme will feature excerpts from Carmen (Georges Bizet), Manon Lescaut and Tosca (Giacomo Puccini), Rusalka (Antonín Dvořák) and Fedora and Andrea Chénier (Umberto Giordano).
This charity concert for the Swiss Continence Foundation marks the launch of its national campaign “Blase gut. Leben gut” (“A healthy bladder for a good life”). The goal of this initiative is to raise awareness among the Swiss population of issues surrounding bladder health, and to provide long-term support and targeted funding for medical care and research in this vital field.
